El Yunque National Forest - Catalina Headquarters
An effective and productive work environment depends on a series of strategies related to people, place and technology. Program objectives, aligned with the actual operations at Catalina and the USFS and USDA design guides, have been identified to provide a new work environment at the Catalina facility. These objectives are:
Provide choice in the work environment to support a variety of work styles.
Provide the infrastructure for high quality, reliable and consistent IT infrastructure and work tools.
Good environmental quality, healthy materials, comfort, daylight and view.
Increase space efficiency by combining similar uses into categories. These are:
Public areas; reception, meeting room and bathrooms
Secure staff areas that includes; support storage areas, office services (copy room, mail room, supply room, filing and storage), workspaces, meeting spaces, social hubs.
In addition,
Catalina is considered the first responder facilities and should be fully operational in case of an incident
Achieve separated public from secured staff area
Incident swing space needs to be provided
